Memorandum of Understanding with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner4 Sep 2020
On 30 July 2020 the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) relating to the performance of their respective roles in regulating the Consumer Data Right system. The purpose of the MoU is to:
- facilitate effective consultation and cooperation between the ACCC and the OAIC in developing and operating the CDR
- recognise the need to commit to the timely development of further specific processes and procedures related to the matters set out in the MoU
- ensure that the ACCC and the OAIC are well-prepared to work together in executing their Consumer Data Right complaint-handling, investigation, enforcement and other functions
- allow for the exchange of relevant information and documents to the extent permitted by relevant legislation.
