The ACCC’s role in energy covers market inquiries in relation to the electricity and gas sectors. The ACCC also enforces the Competition and Consumer (Industry Code – Electricity Retail) Regulations 2019 and Part XICA of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010, which prohibits misconduct in the electricity market. In addition, the ACCC is also working on a Consumer Data Right in relation to energy.
