The ACCC previously had a role in establishing and performing the role of the Independent Telecommunications Adjudicator (ITA). This role ended with the Designated Day, marking the completion of the NBN roll-out, on 1 July 2020.
Telstra’s structural separation undertaking (SSU) and migration plan came into force on 6 and 7 March 2012 respectively. The SSU provides a number of commitments relating to dispute resolution, including a commitment to establish an independent dispute resolution body called the ITA.
On 3 May 2012, Telstra established the Office of the Independent Telecommunications Adjudicator (the ITA company).
The ITA company was established to administer the process for resolving complaints from wholesale customers relating to ITA disputes. ITA disputes are complaints that:
- relate to Telstra’s delivery of non-price equivalence in the supply of Regulated Services
- arise under Telstra’s Migration Plan.
