Consumers who bought baseball caps incorrectly swing-tagged as being made in Australia are being offered a refund, following Australian Competition and Consumer Commission action.

Acting ACCC Chairman, Mr Allan Asher, said today that a 'Olympic Authentics Collection' cap, supplied by Jones Stroud Australia to Myer and Grace Bros stores, were made in China - not Australia.

"The caps had Made in Australia swing tags, but were labelled as being Made in China in a sewn-in label on the cap ," Mr Asher said.

"The ACCC warned the supplier Jones Stroud that they may be breaching the Trade Practices Act through false and misleading representations regarding the country of origin.

"Jones Stroud has cooperated with the ACCC to ensure that remaining stock of the caps is correctly labelled.

"Further it has launched advertising offering refunds to consumers who believe they were misled by the swing-tags and will conduct a trade practices education program within the company."
