The Fuel Consultative Committee was established in 2010 to provide an opportunity for meaningful dialogue between the ACCC, the fuel industry, and motoring organisations. The information shared increases our understanding of fuel industry issues and assists us in undertaking our role on issues related to competition and consumer protection in the fuel industry.

How the committee works
Members are encouraged to provide their views and comments on issues in the fuel industry. Examples of issues that members may want to comment on include:
- insight into pricing issues and trends in the context of the ACCC’s monitoring role and other current market issues and developments
- issues affecting consumers and how they may be addressed
- potential issues affecting competition in the industry and how they may be addressed
- issues affecting compliance with the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and trends affecting the industry
- issues related to the ACCC’s role, including fuel price transparency schemes, trends in bio-fuels (such as ethanol blended petrol and biodiesel), fuel standards, developments in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and other technical matters
- other fuel industry issues as requested by the ACCC.
