On 2 September 2020, Uniti Group Limited (Uniti) submitted a joint functional separation undertaking and a supporting submission in accordance with section 151C of the Telecommunications Act. The ACCC accepted the undertaking on 21 October 2020.
On 8 November 2021, TPG submitted a joint functional separation undertaking to the ACCC on behalf of itself and various subsidiaries in accordance with section 151C of the Telecommunications Act 1997.
On 14 October 2019, the ACCC commenced a public inquiry into the prices that NBN Co charges access seekers to use the National Broadband Network (NBN) for supplying residential grade broadband services. The ACCC is considering whether regulatory intervention is necessary in respect of these access products, particularly basic speed access products.
On 23 December 2020, the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) applied to the ACCC to vary the Hunter Valley Coal Network Access Undertaking. On 30 March 2021, ARTC withdrew its 23 December 2020 variation application and submitted a new variation application.
Under section 2.2(b) of the 2008 Interstate Access Undertaking (IAU), ARTC must submit to the ACCC a written statement outlining whether or not it intends to submit a new undertaking to the ACCC for its consideration, no later than six months prior to the expiry of the 2008 IAU.
On 8 May 2019, NBN Co lodged a proposed variation to its Special Access Undertaking (SAU) with the ACCC. The Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA) allows NBN Co to give the ACCC a variation to an SAU already in operation. The ACCC accepted NBN Co’s current SAU on 13 December 2013, following an extensive consultation process.
On 2 November 2017, the ACCC commenced a public inquiry to determine whether NBN wholesale service standard levels are appropriate, and consider whether regulation is necessary to improve consumer experiences.
On 27 March 2017, the Treasurer directed the ACCC to hold an inquiry into the supply of retail electricity and the competitiveness of retail electricity prices.
On 2 March 2018, ARTC lodged a replacement undertaking for the interstate rail network. This undertaking is to replace ARTC's 2008 undertaking, which expires 31 August 2018. The access undertaking covers the terms and conditions of access for parties seeking to run trains on the mainline standard gauge rail track owned or leased by ARTC.
On 22 June 2017, NBN Co formally withdrew its original SAU variation lodged with the ACCC on 27 May 2016. NBN Co simultaneously lodged a new proposed variation to its SAU (revised SAU variation).
