The ACCC proposes to authorise the South Australian Department for Health and Wellbeing (the Department) to permit them to coordinate with various health service providers, in order to maximise the effectiveness of their response to the continued COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department seeks authorisation to allow coordination between itself (including public hospitals and other public healthcare facilities) and various participating healthcare providers, with a view to having those providers supplying resources and services to the overall response to issues arising from COVID-19.

The ACCC previously granted authorisation to the Department in August 2020 for similar arrangements. This authorisation expired on 30 September 2021. The ACCC also recently granted re-authorisation to similar arrangements in other states and territories.

The ACCC proposes to grant authorisation until 24 June 2023. The ACCC now invites submissions in relation to the draft determination by 28 January 2022, before making its final decision.

The ACCC also granted interim authorisation to allow the arrangements to continue while the ACCC assesses the applications for re-authorisation.

Further information about the ACCC’s draft and interim decision is available on the ACCC’s New South Wales Private Healthcare COVID-19 arrangements - re-authorisation.
