Description of Conduct

On 25 June 2020, Steeline Members Pty Ltd (Steeline) applied for authorisation on behalf of itself and its current and future members for two types of conduct:

(a)     joint advertising and selling activities, intended to be carried out in future by Steeline members (including the operation of an online store) and

(b)     collective bargaining conduct, which involves Steeline negotiating and entering into supply arrangements regarding the terms of supply of various products to its members, including steel sheet and coil.

Steeline sought authorisation for 5 years.

Further detail is contained in the application for authorisation, linked below.

On 6 November 2020, the ACCC released a draft determination proposing to grant conditional authorisation for five years.

On 2 December, the ACCC released a final determination granting authorisation to Steeline and its current and future members until 23 December 2025, subject to a condition of authorisation requiring Steeline to advise the ACCC 14 days before a new member joins the group.
