A proposal by Vodafone and Hutchison in relation to the acquisition of Cable & Wireless Optus has been presented to the ACCC Chairman, Professor Allan Fels, said today.
The ACCC will carefully examine this proposal. It will receive a detailed submission tomorrow (Friday 9 February 2001). It is expected that the ACCC will be making market inquiries about the proposal commencing during next week following some further meetings with the parties.
The ACCC's stance is that the details of the proposal should be made known publicly in order for proper market inquiries to be conducted.
