The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a decision to grant interim authorisation* to the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association Limited over a number of arrangements.

These are to make arrangements involving its:

  •  Code of Professional Practice
  •  its disciplinary and dispute resolution procedures
  •  its constitution, and
  •  the exclusionary provisions contained in those documents.

The interim authorisation will run until a final determination is made in relation to the substantive application for authorisation.

"The ACCC considers that the conduct to be engaged in under interim authorisation is largely similar to existing arrangements by the RCSA which have been authorised for five years," ACCC Chairman, Mr Graeme Samuel, said today.

"As such, the ACCC considers that maintaining the status quo while it considers the RCSA's substantive application for authorisation is likely to cause less disruption to the industry than would be caused by denying interim authorisation."

The ACCC's interim authorisation decision will be available from the ACCC website, www.accc.gov.au.
