An Australian Competition and Consumer Commission survey today (Wednesday 30 September) indicates that there has not been any significant general movement in auto LPG prices around the Melbourne metropolitan area. In the 90 sites surveyed there was an average price of 29.9 cents per litre. This was the same price as in the previous day of LPG price monitoring.

The RACV is assisting the ACCC in monitoring LPG prices in non-metropolitan areas.

The ACCC has had a number of calls though its hotline (1300 360 272) providing information of high prices in country areas.

The RACV survey has confirmed that there are a number of country areas with LPG prices between 35.9 and 38.4c per litre. The ACCC is expects to shortly receive information from the suppliers of auto LPG, Elgas, about claims by some country service stations of a rise in the price of LPG supplied to them by Elgas.

The ACCC's hotline has also received information from a dozen or so callers about raised prices, particularly in bread and a range of electrical products. If there is a body of evidence showing increased prices for particular products the ACCC will proceed with further investigations.
