The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission survey today (Thursday 1 October) again indicated that there has not been any significant general movement in LPG auto gas prices around the Melbourne metropolitan area.

Prices ranged between 28.5 cents and 30.9 cents per litre. Ninety-eight sites were visited in Melbourne and Geelong.

The ACCC has received around 400 calls on its hotline (1300 360 272). The majority are about LPG auto gas prices.

The ACCC is aware, given the information provided to it from the hotline, that some service stations are charging prices 10 cents higher than the 29.9 average. Consumers have identified many of these stations as being supplied by Elgas.

The ACCC has raised this matter with Elgas and is currently discussing a range of pricing issues with the company.

The RACV survey indicates that the highest country LPG auto gas prices are in Wodonga and Shepparton while Bendigo and Ballarat averages are comparable to those of the Melbourne metropolitan average.
