Contrary to reports in today's Australian, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has not 'released "an informal clearance" for the Alinta/AGL proposed merger".
The matter is still under consideration and a decision is not expected until 15 June 2006, at the earliest.
No undertakings have been accepted by the ACCC from Alinta. The undertakings which appear on the ACCC website, are those which have been offered by the company. They have not been accepted and are published for the information of parties which wish to comment on the proposed merger.
