The ACCC has granted authorisation to enable a group of Barwon Region councils to engage in collaborative tendering for e-waste collection services, managed by Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group. Authorisation has been granted until 14 October 2031.

The participating councils are Colac Otway Shire Council, Moyne Shire Council, Corangamite Shire Council, Borough of Queenscliffe, City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire Council and Glenelg Shire Council.

The ACCC considers that the collaborative tendering is likely to result in public benefits from improved environmental outcomes through increased diversion of e-waste from landfill, transaction cost savings, economic efficiencies and increased competition for the provision of e-waste collection services. The ACCC considers that the collaborative tendering is likely to result in minimal, if any, public detriment.

More information about the ACCC’s decision is available on the public registers at: Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group.
