For the purposes of assessing this acquisition, the ACCC considered the following markets: the national market for the supply of express freight services (Australian express freight market); and the market for the supply of express freight services to and from Australia (international express freight market).

Competition analysis

The ACCC considered that the acquisition was unlikely to substantially lessen competition in the relevant markets. The ACCC considered that Toll will continue to face competitive constraints from a number of strong competitors which exist in both the Australian and international express freight markets and the threat of new entry or expansion.
