Competition analysis

The ACCC noted that the completed acquisition gave Sumitomo 100% of Australian Bulk Alliance Pty Ltd where previously it owned 50%.

The ACCC considered it appropriate to analyse the impact of this completed acquisition in conjunction with the completed acquisition of 50% of Emerald Group Australia (a grain marketer and trader) by Summit Agribusiness (Australia) Pty Ltd - another Sumitomo Corporation subsidiary. Please refer to the separate Mergers Register entry for further details relating to that review (reference 41621).

The ACCC formed the view that this completed acquisition was unlikely to substantially lessen competition.
