In reaching its conclusion not to oppose Fairfax's acquisition of the Naracoorte Herald, the South East Coastal Leader and the Border Chronicle the ACCC considered, amongst other factors, that there was limited overlap between existing Fairfax publications and the acquired publications in relation to print advertising. Therefore there was unlikely to be any substantial lessening of competition for print advertising in the local markets of the acquired newspapers.Accordingly, on 6 December 2010, the ACCC decided not to oppose the proposed acquisition.
