Summary

Domain Aged Care Group - proposed acquisition of Ramsay Aged Care Pty Ltd

Market definition

The proposed acquisition was considered on the basis of local markets for the provision of aged care. While narrower markets might exist (for example, delineated by the nature of the aged care service), it was not necessary to consider this issue as the proposed acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition whichever market definition is adopted.

Competition analysis

There is limited local overlap between the facilities proposed to be acquired and those currently operated by the Domain Aged Care Group. In the only area where overlap occurs, there are a number of competing facilities. As such, the ACCC considers that the proposed acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any relevant market.
