The ACCC has varied the reporting conditions that apply to the authorisation granted to the Australian Banking Association in 2019 in relation to its Banking Code. The authorisation related to provisions of the Banking Code that were introduced in response to recommendations of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, in particular in relation to changing banking products and practices to improve outcomes for low-income account holders.
The ACCC proposes to revoke authorisations A91470 and A91471 and grant authorisation AA1000526 in substitution to enable Qantas and China Eastern Airlines to give effect to an extended Joint Coordination Agreement under which the airlines will continue to coordinate their operations between Australia and mainland China until March 2022.
The ACCC has issued a draft determination proposing to authorise an amended version of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia’s Casual Mall Licensing Code of Practice. The ACCC has also granted interim authorisation to allow the SCCA to continue to give effect to the code authorised in 2017 while the ACCC continues its application assessment.
