Telstra's Migration Plan

Telstra has advised the ACCC that it has extended the date from which it will commence mandatory disconnection of some Fibre to the Building (FTTB) Premises in existing Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) NBN Rollout Regions.

The extension of the Disconnection Date will apply to all FTTB premises within NBN Rollout Regions with a Disconnection Date on or prior to 9 September 2016 that are notified by NBN Co to Telstra as having changed their NBN technology from FTTP to FTTB. These FTTB Premises will have their Disconnection Date changed to 23 September 2016 but will remain within their existing Rollout Regions.

The extension is in response to concerns from industry about the potential lack of FTTB product readiness by RSPs and is designed to ensure that end users have sufficient time to migrate their services to the new NBN technology if they choose to do so.

Notice of further extension

On 21 September 2016, Telstra advised the ACCC that some of the Fibre to the Building (FTTB) Premises which had previously qualified for an extension of time to their mandatory Disconnection Date were still not classified as NBN serviceable three months prior to their relevant Disconnection Date.

As the Disconnection Date for these premises was 23 September 2016, they fall within a Service Continuity Region. In accordance with the Migration Plan, and in order to promote service continuity for affected customers, Telstra has advised that it will not commence managed disconnection of these FTTB Premises until 150 Business Days after the relevant Disconnection Date of 23 September 2016.

This means that Telstra will commence managed disconnection of these premises on 8 May 2017.
