ACCC reauthorises Consumer Electronic Clearing System certification, suspension and termination regulations

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has re-authorised the certification, suspension and termination provisions of the Australian Payments Clearing Association’s (APCA) Consumer Electronic Clearing System (CECS) regulations.

The CECS provides a forum in which participants in the EFTPOS and/or ATM systems agree on minimum mandatory standards and procedures for the clearing and settlement of EFTPOS and ATM transactions. APCA sought reauthorisation for those provisions of the CECS regulations relating to initial certification of participants in CECS and suspension and termination of CECS membership.

Further information is available on the authorisations public register.
