On 8 December 2020, the ACCC finalised its review of the Internet Activity Record Keeping Rule (RKR) and released a revised instrument.
To allow carriers and carriage service providers time to the make the appropriate system adjustments, changes to the Rules don't take effect until the 2021-22 financial year.
This means that the appropriate system adjustments will not need to be in place until 1 October 2021. The December 2021 reporting period will be the first reporting period under the new requirements as this is the first reporting period in the 2021-22 financial year. Carriage service providers should follow the current Rules dated December 2018 for the December 2020 and June 2021 reporting periods.
Further information on the review can be found here: Division 12 & Internet Activity Record Keeping Rule (RKR) review.
