On 6 August 2021, the ACCC received a letter of request from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) regarding allocation limits for the administrative issue of apparatus licences in the 3.4–4.0 GHz band in remote areas. The ACMA initially requested that the ACCC provide its advice by 29 October 2021. The ACCC subsequently received an extension from the ACMA to provide its advice by 12 November 2021.
On 27 August 2021, the ACCC released a consultation paper seeking views on a range of issues to inform its consideration of the advice to the ACMA. Submissions to the consultation paper closed on 24 September 2021.
On 12 November 2021, the ACCC provided its advice to the ACMA. A public version of the ACCC advice is available below.
