The ACCC has held a public inquiry under section 497 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth) on whether to extend, vary, or revoke the current domestic mobile terminating access service (MTAS) final access determination (FAD).
On 14 June 2019 the MTAS FAD expiry date was extended until the day immediately before the day on which the next MTAS FAD comes into force.
On 30 August 2019, the ACCC released a discussion paper for consultation. Submissions in response to the discussion paper closed on Friday 27 September 2019.
On 18 December 2019, the ACCC released a position and consultation paper. Submissions in response to the position and consultation paper closed on 7 February 2020.
On 15 May 2020, the ACCC released a draft report. Submissions in response to the draft report closed on 10 July 2020.
On 2 October 2020, the ACCC released a final report and concluded the MTAS FAD inquiry.
