On 20 August 2018, the Treasurer directed the ACCC to hold a public inquiry that will monitor the prices, profits and margins in the supply of electricity in the National Energy Market. The inquiry will provide its first report by 31 March 2019 and at least every six months thereafter until the conclusion of the inquiry on 31 August 2025.

On 19 April 2017 the Australian Government directed the ACCC to conduct a wide-ranging inquiry into the supply of and demand for wholesale gas in Australia, as well as to publish regular information on the supply and pricing of gas for the next three years.

On 27 March 2017, the Treasurer directed the ACCC to hold an inquiry into the supply of retail electricity and the competitiveness of retail electricity prices.

On 2 November 2017, the ACCC commenced a public inquiry to determine whether NBN wholesale service standard levels are appropriate, and consider whether regulation is necessary to improve consumer experiences.

On 13 April 2015 the Minister for Small Business directed the ACCC to hold an inquiry into the competitiveness of the wholesale gas industry.

On 15 June 2007 the then Treasurer approved an ACCC price inquiry into the price of unleaded petrol.

LSS declaration inquiry 2007 Communications Inquiry Finalised

The ACCC's strategic review commenced in December 2005 as an inquiry to examine the future regulation of certain fixed network services. In April 2007, the ACCC began a second stage of the review with the release of a position paper outlining a framework for the review of existing fixed services regulation and the principles that will guide future regulatory decisions.

Long distance mobile services Communications Inquiry Finalised
1998

On 8 October 1998, the ACCC commenced a public inquiry into whether to declare under Part XIC of the Trade Practices Act 1974, a service which would enable service providers to supply the long distance transmission component of long distance and international calls made from mobile phones.
