Under section 2.2(b) of the 2008 Interstate Access Undertaking (IAU), ARTC must submit to the ACCC a written statement outlining whether or not it intends to submit a new undertaking to the ACCC for its consideration, no later than six months prior to the expiry of the 2008 IAU. ARTC’s 2008 IAU was due to expire on 30 June 2020.

Australia Post has provided the ACCC with a draft price notification regarding proposed price increases for letter services. Australia Post is proposing to introduce a basic postage rate of $1 for letters delivered at a new slower timetable, which allows up to an extra three business days for delivery to occur. Postage stamps for letters delivered at the current timetable cost 70 cents. Australia Post’s proposal also includes price increases for the delivery of large letters.

On 1 August 2019, Australia Post provided the ACCC with a draft price notification proposing to increase prices of ordinary letters delivered at the regular timetable by 10 per cent.

The exemptions provisions relating to the WLR, LCS and PSTN OA services have been removed from the relevant final access determinations as of 17 December 2011. The exemptions no longer apply in any Exchange Service Areas.

On 24 September 2015 the ACCC released a final determination granting an exemption to WAPRES at its Bunbury port terminal facility.

A mandatory Code on bulk wheat terminal access commenced on 30 September 2014. The Code regulates bulk wheat port terminal operators to ensure that exporters have fair and transparent access to terminal facilities. The Code allows for regulation to be reduced at ports where appropriate. The ACCC may exempt a port terminal service provider from certain provisions of the Code in relation to a specific port terminal facility.

In August 2003 the ACCC released an information paper on bundling in the telecommunications industry.

Bundling RKR Communications Review Finalised

In March 2003 the ACCC issued a record keeping rule (RKR) to Telstra seeking information to assess the effects of bundling on competition in telecommunications markets. The RKR requires Telstra to provide quarterly reports to the ACCC in relation to its various types of bundled services offered to residential customers.

The ACCC issued a revised bundling RKR to Telstra in March 2006 which includes various improvements to the information to be provided and specifies the reporting format to be used.

On 25 January 2011, Australia Post provided the ACCC with a draft price notification proposing to increase the prices of a number of its reserved services, to become effective on 4 July 2011. The ACCC has decided to not object to the price increases in Australia Post’s price notification.
