In December 2011, ARTC submitted a proposed variation to the accepted Hunter Valley access undertaking to the ACCC for assessment. The proposed variation relates to the determination of the efficient train configuration and initial indicative services.
The ACCC consulted on the variation application and sought further information and clarification from ARTC before releasing a draft decision in May 2012 to not accept the proposal. In August 2012, ARTC withdrew its application from the ACCC’s consideration. ARTC submitted a revised variation application to the ACCC in September 2012, which the ACCC accepted.
