On 24 September 2004 Australia Post lodged a formal price notification under subsection 95Z(5) of the Trade Practices Act 1974, known as the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 from 1 January 2011.
The price notification relates to the proposed introduction of a new service, Impact Mail, that will fall within the definition of Australia Post's reserved services. Impact Mail is a new letter service that will allow for the delivery of irregular (i.e. non-rectangular) shaped, high impact direct mail items.
The ACCC did not object to Australia Post supplying the Impact Mail service on the terms and prices proposed in its price notification of 24 September 2004.
