- Petrol, diesel and automotive LPG prices are not regulated in Australia. Automotive LPG prices were deregulated in 1991. Petrol and diesel prices were deregulated in 1998.
- The ACCC monitors prices, costs and profits relating to the supply of petroleum products in Australia. This is part of a Ministerial direction to monitor for 3 years from 19 December 2019.
- Under this direction, we prepare quarterly petrol monitoring reports focusing on price movements in the capital cities and over 190 regional locations across Australia.
- We also prepare reports on particular issues of interest in the industry.
