In May 2001 the ACCC varied the domestic transmission capacity service declaration, removing the remaining intercapital transmission routes from the service description.

The ACCC commenced its inquiry in September 2000 and released a discussion paper on 29 September 2000.

In order to facilitate further discussion by interested parties, the ACCC issued a draft report identifying a set of draft recommendations in December 2000. The final report was published in February 2001.

Following public consultation, the ACCC revoked both declarations relating to the AMPS service, as the closure of the AMPS network on 31 December 2000 made these declarations redundant.

On 8 October 1998, the ACCC commenced a public inquiry into whether to declare under Part XIC of the Trade Practices Act 1974, a service which would enable service providers to supply the long distance transmission component of long distance and international calls made from mobile phones.

Telstra's AMPS/GSM/PSTN undertaking - November 1997 Communications Access undertaking Finalised

In November 1997 Telstra lodged three undertakings with the ACCC specifying the terms and conditions upon which Telstra proposed to meet its standard access obligations to supply PSTN, GSM (digital mobile) and AMPS (analogue mobile) origination and termination services.
