On 6 October 2005 Foxtel Management Pty Ltd and Foxtel Cable Television Pty Ltd (together, Foxtel) lodged a special access undertaking (SAU) with the ACCC under section 152CBA of the Trade Practices Act 1974, now Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (the Act). The SAU relates to the terms and conditions of access to Foxtel’s digital set top unit service.

The ACCC released a discussion paper on Foxtel's SAU on 10 November 2005. Submissions on the undertaking were due by 14 February 2006.

On 19 April 2017, the Australian Government directed the ACCC to conduct a wide-ranging inquiry into the supply of and demand for natural gas in Australia, and to publish regular information on the supply and pricing of gas for the next 3 years. On 25 July 2019, the Treasurer wrote to the ACCC extending the inquiry until December 2025.

On 16 December 2011 the ACCC released a final decision to vary the final access determinations (FADs) to remove the exemption provisions for the WLR, LCS and PSTN OA declared fixed line services.

The ACCC is required under Part 6 of the Water Charge Rules 2010 (WCR) to decide whether on-river infrastructure operators meet the definition of ‘Part 6 operators’ and, if so, whether to grant them an exemption from operation of the requirements of Part 6 of the WCR.

The ACCC has granted an exemption for GrainCorp’s Carrington terminal at the Port of Newcastle under the new mandatory Code on bulk wheat terminal access.

The Code commenced on 30 September 2014, replacing the previous regime of access undertakings administered by the ACCC. It regulates monopoly bulk wheat port terminal operators to ensure that exporters have fair and transparent access to terminal facilities.

On 29 November 2018, GrainCorp provided a written application to the ACCC seeking to be determined an exempt service provider of port terminal services provided by means of its port terminal facility at the Port of Portland in Victoria.

On 20 December 2019 GrainCorp requested to withdraw its application for exemption in relation to its Portland port terminal facility.
