Talbora Pty Ltd trading as Phone Shop - s.87B undertaking

The Commission investigated reports that the Phone Shop was selling novelty telephones that they claimed could be connected to the Telstra network. These phones were not labelled to show compliance with the ACA (Australian Communications Authority) standards; they were therefore non-compliant and could not legally be connected to the Telstra network. The Phone Shop offered undertakings under s. 87B to the Commission. In the undertakings, Phone shop undertakes to cease the conduct, offer refunds to consumers, publish a corrective advertisement and institute a trade practices compliance program.
