Retravision Pty Limited - s.87B undertaking

Undertakings have been made by Retravision and Haier Electrical Australia in relation to the sale of Haier brand washing machines. The undertakings were made as a result of an ACCC investigation of allegedly false energy rating claims on Haier brand washing machines (models XQJ50-31 5kg and XQJ100-96 10kg). The matter was referred to the Commission by the Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO) under the cooperation agreement between the two agencies to refer potentially misleading energy efficiency claims made in relation to electrical appliances.

Among other things, the Retravision undertaking provides for a full refund for the consumers who purchased one of the machines and Haier Australia Pty Ltd will have all whitegoods distributed by it tested at a NATA accredited, or equivalent, testing laboratory.
