Flight Centres ran an advertising campaign in May and June 2000 which compared the prices for flights "Take off and book now" as opposed to "Book later" after the introduction of the GST.
The advertisement misled consumers into believing that the price of flights would rise by more than 10% due to the GST.
The actual reason for the price differences above 10% was the post GST prices were for flights during a peak travel period.
Flight Centre provided an Undertaking to the Commission in relation to it preparing and implementing a trade practices compliance program. Flight Centre in light of its implementation of a trade practices program has varied its Undertaking.
