- Spotless Laundries
South Pacific Laundry (SPL) proposes to acquire Spotless Laundries.
SPL is a subsidiary of private equity firm Anchorage Capital Partners. Spotless Laundries is the laundries services business of Spotless Group Holdings Limited, which is majority owned by Downer EDI Limited.
Both parties are active in the commercial laundry services industry in Australia.
The ACCC has noted Downer EDI Limited’s ASX release of 21 July 2020, which included statements about the planned sale of Downer’s laundries business. Downer has confirmed to the ACCC that it is still seeking to sell the business, and that the pause will allow time for the ACCC’s informal merger reviews to progress. Therefore the ACCC’s investigations are continuing.
The ACCC has published a Statement of Issues outlining preliminary competition concerns in relation to South Pacific Laundry’s proposed acquisition of Spotless Laundries.
The ACCC invites submissions on its Statement of Issues by 18 September 2020. Submissions should be forwarded electronically (preferably in PDF format) to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title "South Pacific Laundry/Spotless Laundries - attention Jonathan Koay/Soo Sian Koh".
Following 18 September 2020, queries regarding the ACCC's review may be addressed to Jonathan Koay/Soo Sian Koh at email@example.com.
