The ACCC formed the view that the proposed acquisition would be unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any relevant market. Factors informing this conclusion included the competitive constraint imposed by a number of alternative retailers in the Sydney market and that, in light of arrangements under the existing franchise agreement, it appears unlikely that the acquisition would increase Bridgestone's ability and incentive to foreclose competition in the national wholesale market.
