Flight Centres ran an advertising campaign in May and June 2000 which compared the prices for flights "Take off and book now" as opposed to "Book later" after the introduction of the GST. The advertisement misled consumers into believing that the price of flights would rise by more than 10% due to the GST.
Advertisements commissioned by Signature Security Group Pty Limited, dealing with the provision of a Signature Security system, contained GST-exclusive pricing in the form of "from only $295 plus GST".
