Summary
Virgin Australia Regional Airlines Pty Ltd, Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd and/or Alliance Aviation Services Pty Ltd propose to offer a discount and may offer frequent flyer and lounge benefits to corporate customers on the condition that those customers acquire a bundled offer which includes charter services and/or Regular Public Transport (RPT) services from the other operator. The notifications were lodged pursuant to a proposed Charter Alliance Agreement.
The notifying parties also lodged an authorisation application in relation to their proposed Charter Alliance Agreement. On 18 May 2017, the ACCC issued a determination granting authorisations A91552 & A91553 for five years (until 9 June 2022). On the basis of information available to it, the ACCC does not object to the notifications at this time. If at any time circumstances change, or the ACCC receives further information, such that it is satisfied that the public benefits from the third line forcing conduct do not outweigh the public detriments, the ACCC may remove the protection provided by the notifications.
