Summary
On 16 June 2014, VSP Global Inc (VSP) lodged a notification on behalf of Azzam Optometry Group Pty Ltd t/a
Clear Vision Optical (Azzam) which is located in Victoria. VSP has provided a copy of a letter from Azzam
consenting to the notification being lodged on its behalf.
VSP intends to establish, maintain and promote a network of IECPs (Eye Care Professionals) within Australia,
which will assist those IECPs to compete against the major optometry service chains such as Specsavers and
Luxxotica.
As part of the VSP chain, Azzam proposes to offer a discount on the supply of optometry services and related
products (such as completed spectacles and contact lenses) to customers on condition that they are members of
participating health funds, or the employees of the participating health funds. Currently, the only participating
health care fund is Medibank Private but VSP expects that additional health care funds will participate in the
future.
