Description of Conduct

Vision Eye Institute Limited (Vision) has applied for reauthorisation for its employees and ophthalmologists employed as consultants at Vision clinics during the authorisation, to discuss and, if relevant, agree and implement fees to be charged to patients for ophthalmology services supplied at Vision branded clinics.

On 15 July 2015, the ACCC issued a draft determination proposing to re-authorise the arrangements for a further 10 years.

The Australian Society of Ophthalmologists requested that the ACCC convene a conference in relation to the draft determination. A conference was held on 20 August 2015. For information about the conference please see the link below.

On 10 September 2015, the ACCC re authorised the arrangements for a further period of ten years until 2 October 2025.

As this determination will not come into effect before Vision's existing authorisation expires on 30 September 2015, the ACCC has also granted interim authorisation. Interim authorisation will remain in place until this final determination comes into effect.
