Description of Conduct
On 28 October 2024, the Board of Airline Representatives of Australia Inc (BARA) lodged an application, on behalf of itself and its current and future members, to revoke authorisation A91466 and substitute authorisation AA1000682.
BARA sought a revocation and substitution to continue to collectively bargain and to make and give effect to arrangements for the acquisition of Essential Aviation Services from operators of international airports and providers of essential aviation services, and suppliers or potential suppliers of Australian Government-mandated security services that exhibit natural monopoly characteristics.
Authorisation was sought for 10 years.
On 24 January 2025, BARA confirmed minor revisions to the proposed conduct.
On 12 February 2025, the ACCC issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation.
On 13 March 2025, the ACCC issued a final determination, granting authorisation for a period of 10 years, until 4 April 2035, as sought.
A copy of the ACCC’s final determination is available below.
