Description of Conduct

The Australian Newsagents Federation applied for authorisation to engage in collective bargaining on behalf of its member newsagents. The ANF proposed that a national bargaining group be formed to represent member newsagents in negotiations with a range of suppliers, classified by the ANF as: o Insurance brokers o Business opportunities o Drinks- non alcoholic o Phone Cards o Greeting cards and wrap o Stationery o Banks o Newspaper publishers o Magazine distributors o Marketing Groups / Franchises o Tobacco o Confectionery o POS Providers o Broadcast and communication service providers o Electricity providers o Transport companies o ATM service providers o Service stations o Shopfitters The ANF notes that the suppliers as identified by the application may change over time. The Federation also proposed that local bargaining groups be formed to negotiate with suppliers in particular circumstances.
