ACCC proposes to authorise Victorian Councils energy buying group

The ACCC has issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Municipal Association of Victoria and 48 Victorian Councils to pool their electricity demand and place a single tender calling for proposals for the supply of retail electricity services and renewable energy certificates (i.e. Large Scale Generation Certificates) from an electricity retailer. The ACCC proposes to grant authorisation for 11 years.

ACCC grants authorisation to the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group & Ors to jointly procure landfill services

The ACCC has issued a determination granting authorisation to the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG) and a group of 31 councils located across metropolitan Melbourne (together, the Applicants) to jointly procure services for receiving residual waste and related ancillary services.

ACCC grants authorisation to the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group & Ors to jointly procure advanced waste processing services

The ACCC has decided to grant authorisation to the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG) and a group of 16 councils located in south-eastern metropolitan Melbourne (collectively, the Applicants), to conduct a collaborative tender process for the procurement of advanced waste processing (AWP) services. This may include the construction of one or more advanced waste processing facilities.

The ACCC has decided not to object to Australia Post’s proposal to increase the prices of ordinary letter services delivered to its regular timetable, including the basic postage rate (BPR) from $1.00 to $1.10.

The ACCC has released a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Goulburn Valley Waste and Resource Recovery Group and eight local councils in regional Victoria and Southern New South Wales (the Applicants) to collectively tender and contract for a range of waste and resource recovery services until 1 July 2036.

The ACCC has issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG), and a group of 30 councils located in metropolitan Melbourne (collectively, the Applicants), to conduct a collaborative tender process for the procurement of sorting services for commingled recyclable waste collected from residents’ kerbsides.
