The ACCC has issued a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to enable the Insurance Council of Australia (the ICA) and firms that issue business interruption insurance policies to enter and give effect to agreements to use a web-based portal called the DSpark Tool to assist in the assessment of business interruption insurance claims arising from COVID-19. The DSpark Tool provides a common database that aggregates existing, publicly available information about COVID-19 exposure sites and public health orders.
The ACCC has issued a final determination granting authorisation to the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and electricity industry participants for certain maintenance coordination and information sharing arrangements to ensure secure and reliable electricity supply, and minimise the risk of outages, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ACCC has decided to authorise the Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG) and 3 regional waste and resource recovery groups (regional WRRGs) (and any successor appointed for MWRRG and the 3 regional WRRGs), and 27 metropolitan Melbourne councils and 8 regional Victorian councils (together, the Participating Councils) to conduct a collaborative tender process to procure sorting services for commingled household recyclable waste collected from residents’ kerbsides.
The ACCC has released a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group and the Colac Otway Shire Council, Moyne Shire Council, Corangamite Shire Council, Borough of Queenscliffe, City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast Shire Council and Glenelg Shire Council (the Applicants).
The ACCC has released a determination re-authorising the Finance Brokers Association of Australia Limited (FBAA) to continue to implement its disciplinary scheme (consisting of its Disciplinary Rules and certain clauses in its Constitution) (the Conduct) for a further 5 years.
The ACCC has decided to authorise the Gippsland Waste and Resource Recovery Group (GWRRG) and 6 councils located in Gippsland, Victoria, to jointly tender, procure and manage residual waste services. The councils are likely to sign individual contracts with the successful tenderer/s but are also seeking authorisation to jointly manage their contracts with the supplier(s) as they may wish to engage in some joint management activities. Waste service suppliers will be able to tender to supply each council and/or groups of councils (Proposed Conduct).
The ACCC has reauthorised Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa to continue to coordinate on the provision of air passenger services on routes between Singapore Home Markets (in Asia and Oceania) and Lufthansa Home Markets (in Europe). The ACCC has authorised these arrangements since 2016. Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa propose to expand the number of countries which they coordinate operations between by an additional 3 countries in Oceania/Asia and 30 countries in Europe.
The ACCC has granted authorisation for 20 years to 6 Victorian local councils and Barwon Region Water Corporation (the Applicants) for the 6 councils to collectively bargain with Barwon Water to negotiate the terms of waste supply agreements covering the provision of organic waste material and the supply of waste processing services through a Regional Renewable Organics Network
The ACCC has released a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC), City of Bayswater, Town of Bassendean and the Shire of Mundaring (the Applicants) to establish a Regional Waste Collection Service operated by the EMRC, where each of the 3 councils will jointly negotiate and enter into service agreements with the EMRC for the provision of collection and ancillary waste services.
