ACCC grants interim authorisation for ongoing supermarket cooperation on COVID-19 response

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (the ACCC) has granted interim authorisation, with conditions, to enable Coles Group Limited, other participating supermarkets and other approved supermarkets to continue cooperating to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of retail products and a safe operating environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ACCC grants authorisation for arrangements to assist assessment of business interruption insurance claims arising from COVID-19

The ACCC has granted authorisation to enable the Insurance Council of Australia (the ICA) and firms that issue business interruption insurance policies to enter and give effect to agreements to use a web-based portal called the DSpark Tool to assist in the assessment of business interruption insurance claims arising from COVID-19. The DSpark Tool provides a common database that aggregates existing, publicly available information about COVID-19 exposure sites and public health orders.

Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group authorised

The ACCC has granted authorisation to enable a group of Barwon Region councils to engage in collaborative tendering for e-waste collection services, managed by Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group. Authorisation has been granted until 14 October 2031.

The ACCC has issued a final determination granting authorisation to the South Australian Department for Health and Wellbeing (the Department) to permit them to coordinate with various health service providers, in order to maximise the effectiveness of their response to the continued COVID-19 pandemic.

ACCC proposes to authorise industry to collaborate on AdBlue supply arrangements

The ACCC has released a draft determination proposing to grant authorisation to enable diesel exhaust fluid (also known as ‘AdBlue’) manufacturers and other industry participants to collaborate, in conjunction with the Commonwealth Government, to obtain supply of refined urea, a key ingredient in AdBlue, and prioritise distribution of refined urea and AdBlue should shortages emerge.

Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia Disciplinary Rules re-authorised

The ACCC has decided to grant authorisation to the Mortgage and Finance Association Australia (MFAA), until 31 March 2027, to allow it to continue administer its disciplinary rules, which enforce the MFAA’s Code of Practice.

The ACCC proposes to grant re-authorisation to Australian Payments Network Limited’s (AusPayNet) High Value Clearing System (HVCS) regulations and procedures that apply to suspension and termination of members and the requirement that HVCS members join the Society of Worldwide Interbank Financial Transactions (SWIFT).

ACCC grants interim authorisation for Allpoint ATM network

The ACCC has granted interim authorisation to enable Cardtronics and financial institutions who join a proposed Allpoint ATM network to reach agreements with Cardtronics to provide cardholders of these financial institutions with the ability to access surcharge free ATM transactions (cash withdrawals and balance checks) throughout the Allpoint ATM network.
