The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has decided that it will not oppose the acquisition of Offset Alpine by Eastern Suburbs Newspapers (ESN).
ACCC Chairman, Professor Allan Fels, said today that after careful consideration, the ACCC considered that the acquisition was unlikely to substantially lessen competition.
"The ACCC found that there are a number of other competitors, of a comparable size to Offset Alpine, that will provide competition to ESN in the market for the supply of web printing services," he said.
"Further PMP, a subsidiary of News Limited, and a bigger player in this market than ESN is an aggressive competitor."
