The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission today issued a Statement of Issues on the proposed acquisition of the Federal Publishing Company Community Newspaper Group by News Limited.
The Statement of Issues seeks further information in relation to News' acquisition of community style newspapers and magazines, with a particular focus on northern and inner west Sydney.
The ACCC invites further submissions from News Limited, its competitors and customers, and other interested parties, that focus on the topics outlined in the Statement of Issues by 22 December 2006. The ACCC expects that, once it has considered any further submissions, it will make a final decision on the proposed acquisition on 17 January 2007.
