On 22 December 2025, the ACCC released its 27th interim report of the ACCC’s Gas Inquiry into gas supply arrangements in Australia. The ACCC continues its focus on the operation of the east coast gas market.
This report provides:
- updated supply-demand outlooks for each quarter of 2026 with a particular focus on Q2
- an update on gas prices offered and agreed, and volumes contracted for supply in 2026 and 2027
- latest findings from our gas buyer engagement.
The report also:
- provides a draft retailer selling practices guidance for comment
- presents the ACCC’s approach to reviewing the methodology for calculating its LNG netback price series and sets out issues for comment.
In addition to the above, the ACCC released a report from Rystad Energy on gas costs of production to provide transparency on this matter to the market.
