About the market study
In June 2016, the ACCC announced it would undertake a market study into the new car retailing industry. The study was to examine competition and consumer issues that may be present in the industry with a focus on practices relating to:
- consumer guarantees and warranties;
- access to repair and service information and data and post-sale service arrangements; and
- fuel consumption, emissions and car performance.
