The ACCC has released its draft advice with proposed amendments to the Commonwealth water charge rules. The ACCC has also released an overview of the draft advice (see ‘Related documents’ below).
Draft advice documents
The Draft Advice sets out the ACCC’s draft recommendations for amending the water charge rules.
The Proposed Water Charge Rules - Amending Instrument sets out the legislative amendments required to give effect to the draft advice.
The Proposed Water Charge Rules is the legislative instrument that would result if these amendments were adopted.
The ACCC sought submissions from stakeholders as part of its consultation process, on the draft advice.
Submissions were due on Friday, 4 March 2016. Submissions received are available below.
Related documents
The ACCC has produced an overview of the draft advice. This overview explains the background to the water charge rules review and provides a brief explanation of the amendments to the water charge rules that the ACCC is proposing.
Commissioned reports
As part of the consultation for the review, the ACCC engaged researchers at the University of Adelaide to survey irrigators in the southern Murray-Darling Basin and produce the following report:

The views presented in this report are the authors’ and do not necessarily reflect those of the ACCC.
The purpose of the survey was to engage with stakeholders and inform the ACCC’s Final Advice and the proposed water charge rules. The report has been considered by the ACCC as part of its review.
